This Cookie Policy explains how Bharat.Law uses cookies and similar technologies on bharat.law, app.bharat.law, and other Bharat.Law-branded websites and applications (together, the 'Sites'). It supplements the Privacy Policy.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits. We refer to these collectively as 'cookies' below.
1. Categories we use
Strictly necessary cookies.
- These keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, balance load across servers, and remember consent choices. The Sites do not function without them.
- On our demo request page only, Google reCAPTCHA sets cookies and reads device and interaction signals to check that a request comes from a person rather than an automated script. It loads only when you start filling in that form.
Functional cookies.
- These remember preferences such as language, region, theme, and recent matter selection. They make the experience smoother but are not strictly required.
Analytics cookies.
- These help us understand how the Sites are used, which pages and features are most useful, and where errors occur. We use PostHog and Google Analytics for this.
Advertising cookies.
- We use advertising cookies and pixels from Google, LinkedIn, and Meta to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and to show Bharat.Law ads to people who have visited our Sites (retargeting). These cookies are set only with your consent. They never receive your documents, research conversations, or work product.
2. First-party and third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by us (first-party); others are set by third parties we use for analytics, error reporting, or marketing measurement (third-party). Third-party cookies are subject to the privacy practices of the third party that set them.
3. List of cookies
An up-to-date list of cookies set on the Sites, including the category, provider, purpose, and retention period, is available in the cookie banner's preferences panel. The list is updated as we add or remove cookies.
4. How we get consent
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. For all other categories, we ask for consent the first time you visit, through a cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time from the cookie preferences link in the Site footer.
5. Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or use private-browsing modes. If you do this, some parts of the Sites may not work as intended.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. We will update the date at the top when we do.
